My Brief Profile

Mohammad Nazir AHMAD’s educational background includes the achievement of a degree in Bachelor of Information Technology in Industrial Computing from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) (1998), and subsequently receiving an MSc in Information Systems from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) (2002). In 2009, he was awarded a PhD in the field of Information Technology from the University of Queensland (UQ), Brisbane, Australia. He is currently an Associate Professor at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He has been active for many years in the fields of Ontology and Knowledge Management; areas in which he has been supported by numerous research grants, totalling in excess of MYR 3,000,000. In addition to this, he has authored at least 150 publications comprising 26 high impact journals, 15 WoS/ESCI journals, 47 Scopus/ERA journal articles, 55 refereed conference articles, 6 chapters in books, 4 edited books, 8 newspaper articles, and 3 magazine articles. He has supervised 19 BSc, 12 Masters, and 12 PhD projects to completion, and he is currently supervising 8 PhD candidates. His firm belief is that the application of innovation, creativity, and passion is necessary in anything that people want success in, and he believes that this is what ensures that academic work has a significant contribution to community and real-world problems. He always strives for strategic balance by bridging the gaps between the academic, business, and industrial worlds. Dr. Mnazir is also a member of the International Associations for Ontology and Its Applications (IAOA), the Association for Information Systems (AIS), and the Exco of Technology for the Malaysian Association for Information Systems (MyAIS).
